Hawaii Esports Intiative
Graphics and Social Media
Contributions
As part of broader efforts to expand access to Esports in Hawai‘i, I supported initiatives focused on building community infrastructure and promoting digital inclusion through youth engagement. Working in collaboration with partners including the Hawai‘i State Public Library System, TRUE + Tech Lab, and local schools, I developed the visual identity for new Esports programming. This work included branding, promotional materials, and event graphics, helping to create a unified and engaging look that supported the launch and visibility of these community-based efforts.
Launch of Hawai‘i’s First Public Library Esports Lab
In July 2022, Waipahu Public Library became the first public library in Hawai‘i to open an Esports hub, a transformative step that created new opportunities for local youth to connect, compete, and explore careers in digital media.
As part of the opening event, I was responsible for:
Live-Streaming Graphics: I developed dynamic graphics packages for stream overlays, sponsor recognition, and show openers.
Social Media Support: I collaborated on digital promotions and on-site coverage to amplify the event’s reach across social platforms.
Highlight Reel Editing: I edited the official highlight reels for the Waipahu grand opening, featuring community leaders, player interviews, gameplay, and audience reactions to showcase the event’s impact and energy.
This project not only marked a milestone for public access Esports in Hawai‘i but also demonstrated how community media can bridge the gap between traditional public services and emerging digital culture.
Continued Growth: Tournaments at HPU’s Esports Arena
Following the Waipahu event, ʻŌlelo continued its support for regional Esports competitions, including tournaments held at the state-of-the-art Hawai‘i Pacific University (HPU) Esports Arena. I contributed to support these with graphic support and social media coverage.
